On the way home from the pumpkin patch, we drive through Amish country. We saw numerous horse drawn buggies but what caught my attention was 4 horses pulling a corn picker in the field....wow! It looked so neat as we drove by so I told Mark to turn around so I could take a picture. By the time we pulled around, the farmer had stopped at the edge of the field, so the pictures don't really show what I was hoping they would. But anyway, it just made me think about the simple lifestyle the Amish people have. In a world that invents anything and everything to make our lives easier, they remain the same. The simple life?....maybe....but is rigging up four horses to a corn picker really simpler than turning the key to a tractor? No, but I'm sure it's not just about that........

We were at the pumpkin patch last week and I had the exact same thought about the Amish folks. I even said, "I think the Amish people are onto something with their simple living." However, my dad pointed out that when he was young they did not have electricity or plumbing and it wasn't simple or enjoyable. Could I have the simple life WITH the electicity and plumbing, please!?
